Dr. Richard Joseph Brown was proud to begin his practice in the specialty of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery after 12 years of training. He is originally from Atlanta, Georgia where many of his family members still reside.
After graduating high school he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia. Before attending medical school he was an orderly at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, where he discovered his passion for surgery. Dr. Brown then moved to Chicago where he earned his medical degree from The Chicago Medical School. While there, he was president of the Student Surgical Society. He then completed his General Surgery residency at Northwestern University in Chicago. While at Northwestern, Dr. Brown joined Dr. Thomas Mustoe’s lab and spent one year dedicated to wound healing research. During that year, he wrote and published papers in one of the top Plastic Surgery journals, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He then graduated and became certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery. Finally, Dr. Brown completed his residency training in the field of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha.
Dr. Brown’s wife Alexis attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, and is a dental hygienist of nine years now practicing in North Scottsdale. They currently reside in Scottsdale with their twin boys. In his spare time, Dr. Brown enjoys all of the outdoor activities that Arizona has to offer. He is a seasoned marathon runner, loves to play golf, and enjoys spending time with his family.
Dr. Brown’s practice is located in Scottsdale, Arizona, and he specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, body, breast, and extremities.
