Phoenix Breast Reduction Candidates

If you suffer from overly large and heavy breasts, you may be a good candidate for breast reduction. Breasts that are too large can detract for your frame, making your look heavy and disproportionate. In addition, heavy breasts can lead to painful conditions such as back and neck strain, as well as causing bra straps to cut into shoulders, resulting in serious discomfort. If you suffer from any of these things, board-certified Phoenix breast reduction surgeon Dr. Richard Brown can evaluate your body and help you determine if this procedure is right for you. Ideal Breast Reduction Candidates Ideal candidates for breast reduction in the Phoenix area should:
  • Have overly large breasts
  • Be in generally good health
  • Be prepared for a surgical procedure and recovery period
  • Be willing to follow all of Dr. Brown’s pre and postoperative advice
  • Have realistic expectations
Breast reduction surgery can restore comfort and bring balance to your chest, but it may not be the best solution for you. During you initial consultation Dr. Brown can provide you with more information about your options to help ensure you are making the best decision for your body. If you live in Phoenix, Scottsdale, West Valley, or surrounding areas of Arizona and would like to learn if breast reduction is right for you, please contact Richard J. Brown, MD today to schedule a consultation.

Breast Health Before and After Implants in Phoenix

Prior to breast augmentation, Phoenix board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Brown will carefully evaluate your medical history to ensure you are healthy enough to undergo the procedure. Good physical health before breast implants are placed is important to reduce potential unnecessary complications. When placed by an experienced board certifed plastic surgeon like Dr. Brown, breast implants should not impact the health of your breasts or body. However, rare complications such as capsular contracture may require eventual breast implant replacement. Cancer Screening One of the worries women have about breast health following the placement of implants is how they will affect breast cancer screening. You should inform your doctor about your breast implants to ensure proper diagnostic tools are used when evaluating your breast, but breast implants have not been shown in the scientific literature to interfere with breast cancer detection or delay the stage of the cancer when diagnosed. The position of your breast implants, above or below the muscle, will help your doctor determine the best test to screen for breast cancer. Whether your implants are below or above the muscle you may have a mammogram, but your doctor may also recommend additional exams such as MRI. To date no study has shown that breast implants increase your risk for breast cancer. Dr. Brown will discuss breast health with you and answer questions you may have about breast implants during your initial consultation. If you live in Phoenix, Scottsdale, or surrounding areas of Arizona and would like to learn more about breast augmentation, please contact Richard J. Brown, MD today to schedule a consultation.

Don’t Skip That Early Workout

It’s 5am and your alarm goes off. Gym time. It’s also pitch dark and 45 degrees outside. What to do? Don’t skip. Enough said. Harvard biologist Christopher Randler discovered in 2010 that early risers are more productive. Who doesn’t wish they had just one or two more hours in their day? Waking up early gives you that extra time to fit in what you want to fit into your day, be that working out, carving out some quiet time before the rest of the family wakes up or just finishing up some unfinished business from the day before. Many successful business people get up early to exercise. Regular exercise boosts endorphins, creates energy and helps promote better sleep. Plus, have you ever regretted that early morning kickboxing class or hot yoga? Chances are if you’ve ever pushed that snooze button, thinking it might be a good idea to get one more hour of sleep, you’ve probably just tossed and turned, feeling a bit guilty and not really getting restful shut-eye. If you’ve mentally prepared yourself the night before for that early morning workout, as Nike says, just do it. You will feel better, have more energy and just might get a bit more done that day. You might not even need that extra wish. by Kati Walker, Patient Care Coordinator
