Breast Reduction Surgery

Women with large breasts may experience neck pain, back pain, discomfort during physical activity, or acute self-consciousness. If you live in the Phoenix area and are considering a breast reduction procedure, cosmetic surgeon Dr. Richard J. Brown has years of experience helping women improve their daily lives and their confidence.

Breast reduction surgery, also known as reduction mammoplasty, is a procedure in which tissue is removed from the breasts to reduce size and improve shape. Although all patients are unique, the surgery usually takes between two and three hours, and both outpatient and inpatient procedures are used, depending on the type of procedure recommended.

Women whose skin is very elastic may be candidates for a minimally invasive liposuction procedure. Those with moderately droopy breasts will need only a vertical incision along the bottom of the breast as well as around the areola, while women with very large breasts may need an additional horizontal incision along the bottom crease of the breast. In all cases, Dr. Brown will make every effort to minimize scarring during your breast reduction surgery.
