BROW LIFT / FOREHEAD LIFT

A brow lift is also known as a forehead lift. As we age, we experience volume loss, thinning skin, and the sagging of facial contours. These effects of aging are often most pronounced and visible in the forehead and brow area. You may notice forehead wrinkles, as well as sagging and fullness of the eyebrows. A brow lift is an ideal procedure to reverse these effects and refresh your appearance.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A BROW LIFT?

You are an ideal candidate for a brow lift:

  • If you are a healthy, non-nicotine using patient for more than one month.
  • If you have a seemingly sad or angry expression due to sagging of the outside of your brows
  • If there are frown lines between your eyes
  • If your eyebrows sag so much that they push your upper eyelids down

    THE BROW LIFT PROCEDURE

Above all, at Brown Plastic Surgery we strive for natural, subtle improvement. This is achieved through a conservative, “less is more” approach that restores a youthful appearance and expressions to complement your natural, inner beauty. Artistry in facial rejuvenation means never looking artificial.

Our entire team stands behind you and will be transparent about how to achieve your desired outcome. For some patients, only a brow lift is required to achieve their ideal appearance. For others, complementary procedures such as an eye lift may be beneficial. We will work together to craft a customized surgical plan that suits your lifestyle and best interests.

    BROW LIFT PROCEDURE DETAILS

Brow lift procedures have evolved from open techniques to more complex short incision and endoscopic techniques. A brow lift usually involves incisions in the hair-bearing scalp, but sometimes incisions are made in the forehead and/or the upper eyelids.

Open Brow Lift: This is also known as the coronal brow lift and is the original technique described. Dr. Brown will make an incision in the hair-bearing portion of the scalp. He will elevate and mobilize the forehead tissue and move it backward to elevate the eyebrows. He will then remove any excess skin and suture the incision back together. The open or coronal brow lift is the most powerful of the brow lift techniques with the most reliable long lasting result.

Endoscopic Brow Lift: Dr. Brown utilize several small incisions in the hair-bearing portion of the scalp and will insert an endoscope (a long, thin tube with a light at the end attached to a video camera.) This allows Dr. Brown to see and work on the various internal structures of the forehead. The endoscopic technique requires very minimal incisions, but it may not be equally beneficial for all patients.

Temporal Brow Lift: This procedure requires smaller incisions in the hairline and focus on lifting the outer part of the eyebrow, which is the most common part to sag over time. The eyebrow is secured using dissolvable sutures beneath the skin.

The type of brow lift you undergo will be based on your overall goals and aesthetic preferences. Whichever approach, the goal of the entire Brown Plastic Surgery team is to help you achieve the most beautiful and natural-looking results, as well as to make your surgical experience as easy and comfortable as possible.

The operation itself takes 1-2 hours depending on what type of brow lift you undergo.

    BROW LIFT RECOVERY*

You will see Dr. Brown within a few days after your procedure to evaluate the healing progress. You may experience slight tightness and numbness in your forehead. Staples or sutures will be removed after a week has passed. Generally, no surgical drains are needed. Although you can return to work at this point, you will be asked to avoid lifting heavy objects or partaking in any strenuous activities for several weeks.
