Phoenix Facelifts and Scarring
The purpose of a facelift is to rejuvenated your appearance leaving you with a refreshed look, not t detract from it with large, unsightly scars. However, as a surgical procedure, your facelift will require incisions and, when not placed carefully or properly cared for, it can leave visible scars.
Board-certified Phoenix facelift surgeon Dr. Richard Brown takes every care to place your incisions in inconspicuous locations. Having performed numerous facelifts during his career, Dr. Brown has developed advanced techniques to help ensure scarring is minimal and well hidden.
Your Role in Reducing Scars
Dr. Brown will take every precaution to reduce visible scarring, but this alone is not enough to help you heal properly. To protect against noticeable scars, you will need to closely follow all of Dr. Brown’s pre and postoperative advice, and be very patient because scars take time to fade.
Some of the most effective ways to promote a healthy healing response and reduce evident scarring include:
- Keep your incisions clean
- Avoid tanning and sunbathing for at least one year
- Quit smoking at least six weeks before surgery and do not start again
- Take all of the medications prescribed by Dr. Brown
- Eat a well-balanced, nutritious diet
- Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated
Dr. Brown is committed to your satisfaction. During your Phoenix facelift planning phase he will discuss your recovery and the most effective ways to avoid visible scarring.
