If you’re troubled by the realization that your breasts have started to sag or appear to lose volume, a breast lift – also known as a mastopexy – may be the solution for you. I recommend breast lifts to many clients who have faced breast sagging as a result of pregnancy, weight loss, and/or the natural process of aging.
With a breast lift, I can restore the position of your breasts so they appear perky and youthful. If you’re wondering how I achieve natural-looking breast lift results so your breasts don’t appear “fake” or “overdone,” keep reading.
THE BREAST LIFT PROCEDURE
At the start of a breast lift procedure, I’ll make several incisions and remove any excess skin and breast tissue that may be contributing to your sagginess. If your breasts are minimally saggy, I’ll likely make an incision around the circumference of your areola, which is the dark skin around your nipple.
In the event your breasts are moderately or severely saggy, I’ll make an incision around the areola as well as a vertical one down the center of your breast and/or along the lower breast crease.
Once the ideal incision has been made for your unique goals, I’ll lift the skin and breast tissue to a higher position on your body. After I’ve lifted your breasts, I’ll center your nipples and areolas around your newly shaped breasts. At this time, we can also resize the areolas if you prefer.
You should understand that a breast lift will not drastically alter the size of your breasts or fill out their upper part. If your goal is larger breasts, you can pair your breast lift with breast implant surgery.
BENEFITS OF BREAST LIFT SURGERY
After breast lift surgery, you’ll notice that your breasts sit higher up and are a bit firmer to the touch. This has the added benefit of elongating your torso area. If we’ve resized your areolas, they won’t appear so stretched. Many of my patients at Brown Plastic Surgery notice not only a more youthful silhouette but a renewed self-confidence as well. Undoing some of the damage that pregnancy, weight loss or simply age has done can help you not only look but feel, your best. Having the breasts you want is attainable.
I chose to have a lift and augmentation because Dr. Brown suggested that in order to achieve symmetry and the overall appearance I was seeking, I needed both the lift and augmentation. I am grateful I chose to do both.
Prior to surgery, I anticipated that I would not be able to do regular activities for several weeks and that it would be extremely painful; however, I was off all pain meds within a week and back to driving and work the following week. It is not even three weeks and my incisions are healing quickly and each day I find myself being able to add more regular activities. I still have some bruising and swelling but have found that wearing my surgical bra at all times truly helps with the swelling and soreness. (This was suggested by Dr. Brown).
Pros- lifted, symmetrical and well rounded breasts, increased confidence and improved posture.
Cons- location of incisions can be uncomfortable at times.
