How to find the Best Plastic Surgeon?
While it may be tempting to go with the first plastic surgeon you find, doing your due diligence and shopping around so you can find the best plastic surgeon is essential. By selecting the right plastic surgeon for your unique procedure and aesthetic goals, you can increase your chances of a pleasant experience and beautiful results. As a plastic surgeon who has been in practice for a long time, I recommend that you look for the following when you are trying to find the best surgeon.
It’s important to go with a plastic surgeon who you feel comfortable talking to and who answers all of your questions – in a way that you can understand. If the surgeon is unable to explain things in ways that make sense to you, they are probably not a good fit.
If you’re interested in breast augmentation surgery, look for a surgeon who has experience with this specific procedure. Find out how many breast augmentation surgeries they’ve performed in the past. Refrain from moving forward with a surgeon unless they have a track record of performing the exact type of procedure you’d like to undergo. Be sure to ask any surgeon you consider:
- How many years have you been performing this procedure?
- How many times have you performed this procedure?
- Do you have before and after photos showcasing your results?
- Can you refer me to any past patients who can talk to me about their experience?
Plastic Surgery Consultations Available
Believe it or not, the government does not require surgeons to be specifically trained in performing the procedures they offer. Therefore, they can advertise plastic surgery procedures and make more money as long as they’ve passed the state medical boards.
Make sure your plastic surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), the ONLY cosmetic surgery/plastic surgery organization in the U.S. that is recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. You should avoid any plastic surgeon who is not board certified by ABPS because they probably don’t have the ideal level of education and training that surgeons should have. Do not choose a surgeon who is “board-certified” by The American Board of Cosmetic Surgery: they are not a recognized board.
It’s a good idea to perform a quick Google search of the surgeon you’re considering to find out whether there have been any reviews written on them. Make sure they have positive reviews and ask if you can call some of their previous patients so you can get their perspectives on what it’s like being a patient.
Dr. Richard Brown and his staff are the best! They make you feel totally at home, at ease and they are great about paying attention to what you have to say. My experience was a bit traumatic for me and they were so wonderful to help me relax and actually somewhat enjoy my experience. I would highly recommend them for any kind of plastic surgery that you might need and KNOW that you are in the best of hands!!
