What Happens To My Belly Button During a Tummy Tuck?
Women come to me seeking a variety of improvements to the appearance of their breasts. Frequently, women are dissatisfied with the size of their natural breasts or with the size and shape of their breasts after having children or losing weight. They’re hoping to restore the breast volume they’ve lost after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss.
If you’d like to improve the appearance of your breasts, breast augmentation may be a good option. Prospective breast augmentation patients often ask me whether this procedure is best done above or below the muscle. Keep reading to find out.
What Happens During Breast Augmentation?
During a breast augmentation surgery, I’ll use various implant types and incisions to create beautiful, natural results. I use only smooth implants (not textured) in my practice. In most cases, I will insert your breast implants through the crease below the breast fold, your armpit, or the edge of the areola, which is the dark skin that surrounds the nipple. I’ll place your implants in a pocket directly behind the breast tissue or underneath the muscle. Your particular breasts and aesthetic goals will dictate which method I use.
Below Muscle Breast Implants
The greatest benefit of below the muscle implants is that this method allows more of your muscle to cover the implant. Since the layer of muscle conceals the implant, you can enjoy a more natural look.
Breast Augmentation Consultations Available
This method may also decrease your risk of capsular contracture, which may occur when the scar tissue or capsule that usually forms around the implant tightens and squeezes the implant. I almost always recommend below muscle breast implants.
Above Muscle Breast Implants
While below the muscle breast implants are more common, some of my patients require above the muscle breast implants. If you lead an incredibly active lifestyle and participate in weightlifting or bodybuilding, you may be better off with above muscle breast implants. I may also recommend this method if you are living with minimal ptosis or postpartum deflation.
I saw Dr Brown for a breast augmentation. My experience with his office from the consult to surgery to post surgery follow ups was hands down amazing. My overall experience was better than I ever could have expected and I am so unbelievably estatic with my results. I would do it a million times over. I feel so comfortable in my skin and I can’t even explain what this procedure has done for my confidence. I would recommend Dr Brown to each and everyone considering plastic surgery. He and his staff are amazing! Thank you Dr. B..you’re the best!!
