Every mother understands that pregnancy and childbirth can take a toll on your body as it stretches muscles and skin and often leads to unwanted fat deposits. While you can improve your post-pregnancy body through diet and exercise, sometimes, a healthy lifestyle isn’t enough to achieve the results you desire.
That’s where a mommy makeover comes in. A mommy makeover is a combination of procedures that can help you look and feel your best after having kids. One of the most common questions patients ask me is, “What procedures make up a mommy makeover?” Keep reading to find out.
If you’re bothered by stretched and sagging breasts, a breast lift may be a part of your mommy makeover treatment plan. During a breast lift, I remove excess skin to create perkier, firmer breasts. A breast lift can also alleviate any irritation you may be experiencing from low-hanging breasts.
After childbirth, you may notice unwanted fat deposits on your abdomen, buttocks, hips, and thighs. Since these deposits can be a challenge to remove with diet and exercise alone, liposuction may be a good idea. Essentially, liposuction is a body contouring procedure where I remove fat deposits and sculpt a more attractive contour.
If you are concerned about loose skin in your abdomen, and/or you have diastasis recti – separation of the abdominal muscles – a tummy tuck may be the way to go. When I perform a tummy tuck, my main goal is to create smooth, taut skin and tighten your abdominal muscles. With a tummy tuck, you can feel more confident in tighter fitting shirts and dresses.

Benefits of Multiple Procedures
A mommy makeover with multiple procedures can lead to a variety of benefits. First and foremost, it can reduce the amount of time you are put under general anesthesia. It can also minimize downtime and allow you to resume work and childcare activities sooner than you would be able to if you received each procedure individually. In addition, it can save you money as the use of anesthesia, medical staff, and surgical facilities will be combined.
I had a few meeting with some local plastic surgeons since I had been wanting and researching a mommy makeover for nearly a year. I found a site called RealSelf and was able to post some questions and get responses from actual surgeons. Dr. Rick Brown was kind enough to give me some feed back so I scheduled a consult with him and a couple of other surgeons in the area. The first surgeon I met with was very well known and had a ton of great reviews. I thought he was very nice and kind but I was still just hesitant. Dr. Brown was my next consult. After meeting with his staff I felt like we we’re old friends! He really listened to what I was looking for and even added some recommendations of his own. I felt so confident that he was my surgeon that I paid the deposit before I left. After waiting a couple of months for surgery I kept waiting to feel anxious or scared but that feeling truly never came over me. Even the morning of surgery I was excited. I stayed overnight at the Scottsdale Recovery Center and was treated so wonderful by every nurse on staff. They got me up and walking and we’re right there whenever I needed them. I had delicious snacks and food and it just felt so nice to be taken care of so well. I had a medication called Exporel used to help pain management for surgery and I would definitely recommend it. I am 8 days out of surgery and only use my Percocet just to sleep comfortably at night. Otherwise I have had more pain during the day after being sore from working out too hard in the past! My results are amazing! I almost want to cry when I see myself in the mirror. It’s just something I always wanted to feel happy in my body and Dr. Brown and his staff truly have changed my life. I could not more highly recommend him as a surgeon to anyone! I trusted him and his staff with my life and have zero regrets. If you are considering a procedure I highly recommend going in for a consult. #bodiesbybrown
