The 3 Best Things You Can Do During Your Liposuction Recovery

Liposuction is similar to other surgeries in that it requires a patient to be in a healthy state as it requires a general anesthesia. You will receive detailed post-operative instructions from your plastic surgeon for your liposuction recovery. Our plastic surgery office in Scottsdale has put together a list of three things that we feel are important to your liposuction recovery.

Wear your compression garment as much as possible, ideally for the first 6 weeks during liposuction recovery.

The compression garment will need to be worn for a few reasons. While Liposuction is not as hard on the body as other procedures, you will experience swelling for a few weeks to months post-surgery. Compression also helps the contour of your body for long lasting results by helping push fluid that collects in the tissue after surgery.

Hydrate very well.

Hydration is always important after any surgical procedure as it helps flush toxins from your system related to anesthesia as well as byproducts of liposuction. Extra fluids also help in the healing process.

Stay mobile during your liposuction recovery.

Laying in bed all day can lead to post-surgery complications such as blood clots in the legs. Take short, light walks around the house at least every hour, but rest when your body tells you to. You will need a good balance of rest and light activity. Staying in tune with what your body needs will help with your liposuction recovery.
